Manifesto Election 2014

Kashmir demands logic based Movement

In the Name of Allah, the merciful the companionate. Is he who goes groping in his face more rightly guided, or he who walks upright upon a straight path. (Quran/67/22)[ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِیمِ۔أَفَمَن یَمْشِی مُکِبًّا عَلَى وَجْهِهِ أَهْدَى أَمَّن یَمْشِی سَوِیًّا عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِیمٍ] means every sane soul wishes to tread on the right path. The word “right” has got various directions. And according to the Quran, Allah doesn’t put any one to the test beyond his capacity.  So every single soul is at liberty to determine his own way. And every intellectual has the right either to accept it or reject it.

            For the revival and rehabilitation of Kashmir which is known as the soil of saints worldwide, a comprehensive campaign needs to be launched which can illuminate our political horizon. So in this perspective our election manifesto is based on the following facts which demand your attention;

کان الکشمیر لسکانھا                         جنت عدن ھی للمؤمنین

قد کتب ﷲ علی بابھا                         من دخله کان من الامنین

            Sheikh Shuhab-ud-din Sindhi while showering flowers of praise on the soil of Kashmir says in a couplet that Kashmir is that piece of heaven in which streams flow for the believers . One who enters in it shall get salvation is written on its gate.

            The history of this piece of heaven on earth stands witness that;

(1)        It has remained an asylum for messengers of Allah starting from the very first messenger of Allah and Father Mother of Human being Hazrat Adam (A.S) and Hawa (A.S). And later on Hazrat Suleiman and Moussa too have landed on it. It also accommodates “RozaBal” which historians say is the mausoleum of “Youz Asif” or “Yeshua the Messiah “.

Our history from 259 BC till date is intact which glorifies our social, cultural, economic and educational advancement and also speaks volumes about the divine nature of Kashmiri’s.

(2)        From the reign of Ashoka to 1346AD Kashmir remained under the brutal clutches of non-Muslim rulers.

(3)        In 1346AD Mir Sharaf-ud-din Moosavi Bulbulshah, a scion of the clan of Imam Ali (A.S) visited Kashmir and lighted the candle of Islam. And then Mir Syed Ali Hussaini Hamdani, who belonged to the clan of the grandson of the revered Prophet (SAW), Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S). And then after Syed Mohammad Shams-ud-din Moosavi Iraqi landed in 1526AD to preach Islam here and thus from the beginning of the 13th century to the beginning of 18th century i.e. for six centuries Kashmir has remained as an Islamic state.

(4)        From 1586 to 1947 imperialist rulers ruled Kashmir.

(5)        Indian Mughals ruled for 166 long years.

(6)        Afghans replaced mughals and ruled for 67 years.

(7)        Sikhs invaded Kashmir and ruled for 27 years.

(8)        The British controlled India but failed to bring Kashmir under their fold. And a Dogra trader bought Kashmir in lieu of a few Nanak Shahi coins and ruled Kashmir for more than a century.

                                    Despite all these political upheavals, from 259BC to 1947AD i.e. for more than 2000 years Kashmir remained as an independent divine country. But then after, the political boat of Kashmir got stuck in a deep whirlpool of political jittery and gimmicks, which is briefly detailed as;

            The Subcontinent got divided into two unequal parts on June 3, 1947 Kashmir, which came to be known as Jammu and Kashmir since Raja Gulab Singh’s rule, too got geographically divided in two parts –one part came to be known as Pakistan administered Kashmir and other as Indian administered Kashmir. Then after quite some time we came to know that China administered Kashmir also exists. But haplessly, in the formation of three pars of Kashmir, Kashmiri’s didn’t play any role. Kashmiri’s raised their first voice against the imperialist powers on 13 July 1931. But efforts to muzzle this voice still continue unabated. And in 1947, freedom celebrations over shadowed Kashmir’s independence.

In this period, on one hand the concept of democracy began to spring up but on the other hand history of Kashmir was being written in a different way. But in the division of subcontinent and Kashmir there was a similarity as with the division of the subcontinent Pakistan came in to existence so did a merge Azad Kashmir with the division of Kashmir. People of the subcontinent go divided, relations got parted; political lines were drawn but still restless hearts throbbed for one another.

Kashmir became a bone of contention between the two countries. Both the countries claimed Kashmir as their part. But it can’t be denied that Pakistan adopted an aggressive approach.

Pakistan invaded Jammu and Kashmir for 22 Oct. 1947. Maharaja Hari Singh, in a haste, without consulting Kashmir’s, inked a deal of annexation with India. Kashmiri army would undoubtedly have fought Pak army valiantly but Raja neither trusted his army nor his subjects. As a result, Kashmir got entrapped into a strong trap of Indian army.

With the landing of Indian troops in Kashmir on 22 Oct. 1947, Kashmir lost its status of being a party; its geography began to get affected; democracy began to lose its sheen; a game of might is right began to gain momentum. On one hand Pakistan remained preoccupied in the war for two months and on the other hand India started a political on international level.

India registered a case against Pakistan under the United Nations charter no. 35 in January 1948. The then Indian Prime Minister assured the world of holding a referendum in Kashmir to decide their fate, which ultimately closed all the doors of Kashmir’s self-determination. However, United Nations efforts ensured ceasefire in on 1st January 1948. Pakistan occupied one part of Kashmir on 24 Oct. 1947 and India occupied the other part on 27 Oct. 1947. And thus once again the geographical status of Kashmir got changed.

On 24 Oct. 1947 Pakistan separated at least 1680Kms from the rest of Kashmir to name it Azad Kashmir.

On 27 Oct. 1947 Indian military occupation of Kashmir began.

In 1948 India and Pakistan fought a bloody war on Kashmir.

In 1965 both the countries fought another bloody war on Kashmir.

In 1971 India and Pakistan fought 3rd war on the same issue.

Governor's rule was imposed in Kashmir in 1986.

And in 1987 presidential rule came into force.

Thus since 1947 India on one hand and Pakistan on the other are trying their utmost to claim a historical country viz Kashmir. Because of the skirmishes of the two countries over Kashmir, the people of Kashmir in general and the lowest class in particular bears the brunt; even in this tempest our scholars, religious personalities, intellectuals, doctors and leaders lost their existence for good; we suffered an irreparable loss in terms of men and material and the results are crystal and clear.

            Now time has come when we should stand up and all the religious and historical lines draw such a map of Indian administered Kashmir which would be acceptable to all the three parts (Jammu, Leh Kargil and Kashmir) irrespective of religion, language or race. This would indeed encourage other two parts of Kashmir to take a stance.

            It is pertinent to mention that with the emergence of mass agitation against India in Kashmir in 1990, Pakistan paved way for militant agitation which stained the soil of the heaven on earth with pious blood of our intellectuals, doctors, scholars, poor people etc.

            This mass massacre and wonton bloodshed has so far proved beneficial for a certain group of so called leaders only. Time will prove the fact that those who claim militancy as a source to highlight Kashmir issue at international level are the real criminals of Kashmiri people. Rather, undeniably, militancy era played a pivotal role in making Kashmir an integral part of India. Had this bloody period not emerged, we would have forced India to buckle before our demands; but militancy further complicated our case.

My Objective

            To break the shackles of biased politics in which silly sally people for being exploited on the basis of religion is the immediate need of the hour so as we can restore our lost glory of being the scions of the soil which was famous as an abode of saints worldwide. Thanks Allah, the almighty, irrespective of religious barriers, religious proximity is our common trait and In Quran we read:[ یَا أَیُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاکُم مِّن ذَکَرٍ وَأُنثَى وَجَعَلْنَاکُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَکْرَمَکُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاکُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِیمٌ خَبِیرٌ] "O mankind! Surly we have created you of a male and a female, and made you nations and tribes that you may know each other; surly the noblest of you with Allah is the best in conduct; surely Allah is knower Aware".(49/13)

The poet of east Dr. Iqbal has rightly in the light of the Quran said;

مذہب نہیں سکھاتا آپس میں بیر رکھنا           ہندی ہیں ہم وطن ہے ہندوستان ہمارا

However, time proved Allama’s concept of two nation theory wrong. This concept was not based on Islamic teachings rather presented regional politics. Islam exhorts Muslims to safeguard the rights of every human being cutting across the line of religion. So involvement of all the schools of thought in government formation and safety of the right of every individual in the constitution is a must in Kashmir.

            Kashmiri’s on the whole, are known for their religious proximity worldwide. In this mixed social setup a religious government rather a religious democratic government can be formed which is mentioned in Article 51 of Indian constitution as well.

            In India some radical hindu’s talk of Hindutwa. This madness of the radical hindu’s is proving hazardous for India; it will certainly prove more dangerous than many atom bombs. We shouldn’t forget that such kind of religious radicalism has proved detrimental to India in the past as well. This has led to the division of a strong power and caused bloodshed and collapse of Asia. It also separated people from one another on ideological lines.

            Muslims ruled India and loved it more than anything else. They worked with heart and soul together for the development of India; even they were proud of being Hindustani. Allama Iqbal penned a patriotic poem titled as:"سارے جہاں سے اچھا ہندوستان ہمارا"which is matchless and any non-Muslims yet to produce such a piece. But in the name of religion such a patriotic poet was ousted from the country; religious radicalism set our peaceful society afire; religious bigotry divided India into three countries even Pakistan too spilted and Bangladesh came in to being.

            It is recorded in history that countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Butan, Nepal etc were parts of India but Kashmir existed as a free country. It has its own glorious history as sovereign.

            History bears testimony to the fact that the last ruler of Kashmir Yousuf Shah Check succumbed to mughals only when his countrymen deceived him. Leaders like Sheikh Yaqoob Sarfi, Maharaja Hari Singh, Sheikh Abdullah etc. contributed their level best to strengthen the foreign yoke. And silence of certain intellectuals of our valley further strengthened the yoke.

            This brief analysis acquaints us with the fact that Indian and Pakistani claim over Kashmir is 100% political and religion is used only to exploit people. Dickson plan was only a part of this dirty politics. India and Pakistan occupied Kashmir militarily but its solution cannot be sought through military action. We need to find out its real solution.

            Kashmir is known by various names across the world such as;

Soil of saints.

Abode of Peers.

Heaven on earth etc. ……..

All these names convey many messages and every name contains religious content and every single soul of this soil is highly religious. But unfortunately this beautiful piece of land is one among the most complicated problems of the world; even now it is called a nuclear flash point. Still followers of all the major religions live peacefully on this soil.

 Muslims

            Muslims believe Kashmir as the soil of Prophets, saints and sages. Here in Hazratbal, holy relic of the revered Prophet (PBUH) is preserved besides mausoleums of Bulbul Shah, Mir Sham-us-din Iraqi, khanqahe Ameer-i-kabir and monuments like RozaBal, Astan Alia Khanyar and Imam Baras are also found here which remain thronged with the devotees all through the year.

Hindu, Sikh, Pandit and Buddhist’s

            Kashmir is also a spiritual hub for Hindu’s, Sikh’s, Buddhist’s and Pandit’s. every year thousands of devotees visit their numerous holy places located here.

Christians

            This soil is sanctified for Christians as well who believe that Hazrat Mariyam is buried here. So we can say that Kashmir is of paramount significance for the followers of all religions.

Religion means the belief of the eternal soul and mankind acts with the belief that he is accountable after death about his or her deeds as he or she has to live eternal life and Religion exploiters are also being find Therefore, to think over subject religion the sanctity of religion be respected, one should not form an opinion about others religion but it should remain with religious heads experts. As all religions preach and teach religious proximity and co-existence for which Kashmir is popular throughout world. This candle of religious proximity shall never be extinguished provided we follow our respective religious teachings. In Quran we read:" You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion.(S109V6)".[ لَکُمْ دِینُکُمْ وَلِیَ دِینِ (سورہ الکافرون آیت6)]. The Quran exhorts us to maintain human and moral values at all costs; not to nurse grudge against other religions on personal interests.:"O you who believe! Be upright for Allah, bearers of witness with justice,and let not hatred of a people incite you not to act equitably; act equitably, that is nearer to piety, and be careful of(your duty to) Allah; surely Allah is aware of what you do"[ یَا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُواْ کُونُواْ قَوَّامِینَ لِلّهِ شُهَدَاء بِالْقِسْطِ وَلاَ یَجْرِمَنَّکُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ عَلَى أَلاَّ تَعْدِلُواْ اعْدِلُواْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَى وَاتَّقُواْ اللّهَ إِنَّ اللّهَ خَبِیرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ (سورہ مائدہ آیت8)۔] I think enforcement of these Quranic teachings is very simple in Kashmir as it is the most fertile soil to sow such kind of seeds. It is here in Kashmir mosques stand parallel temples; Pandit’s pay visits to the shrines of Muslim saints to seek blessings and Muslims visit Mandirs and Gurduwaras; Muslims celebrate Shivratra and Pandit’s Eid. These facts bear testimony that Kashmir is indeed an abode of saints rather than a nuclear flash point.

The brief outline of more than two thousand years of Kashmir speaks volumes of its religious proximity and co-existence culture and civilization and politically it can be protected, promoted or tarnish as well.

As three powerful countries are holding control over three parts of Kashmir therefore Kashmir has lost its Identity one needs to know which Kashmir?

Kashmir is under administration of India, Pakistan and China but the history of the Indian administered Kashmir is quite vital.Mughals, Sikhs and Dogra’s let loose reign of terror in this region for years; Amritsar treaty in 1846 was signed in which this piece of land was sold for the sum of seventy-five lakhs of rupees (Nanukshahee), Maharaja Hari Singh’s annexation with India and then many deals of Sheikh Abdullah with India to strengthen the Maharaja’s annexation are some black chapters of our history. Then began a bloody chapter of our history in 1990 ,which has been briefly analyzed earlier, but it is to mention here that the bloodshed of this period further complicated the Kashmir problem besides many political and militant organizations and a number of so called leaders came to the fore to find out a solution to the Kashmir imbroglio .Meanwhile, a cultural onslaught to blot out our traditional ethos reached at climax. As a result ,this soil of saints became an center of heinous crimes. It is our moral duty to initiate tangible steps towards this direction at the earliest; we can wait for the solution of Kashmir issue but ignoring this aggression would amount to injustice with next generation.

There is no denying the fact that Kashmir was never a part of Indian Union and was supposed to join  rather it existed as independent and Indian constitution acknowledges it by Article370 and Kashmir's own constitution, own National flag and own constitution reflects the fact. We all are witness that the active leaders couldn’t do justice with this issue of Kashmir and they are continually committing political follies and by this or that way gained political points to meet their vested interests. Their dual standards brought us on the verge of political and cultural bankruptcy. As a result Indian administered Kashmir became a hell on earth. One can understand ongoing political scenario but ongoing cultural and economical bankruptcy is a big question and people of Kashmir has their right to make India answerable. It is ripe and right time for us to raise such questions in the Indian Parliament to unfold the mystery. Why Kashmir's Cultural sanctity is being tarnished? We do not know much about Pakistan administered Kashmir as we are citizens of Indian administered Kashmir and know how politically we all are suffering and political leaders are rising the issue in their capacity both pro resistance or anti-resistance and India is answering in her own style whether anyone gets convince or not but the people of Kashmir wants to ask India what is the logic behind cultural invasion and aggression that not only Kashmiri Muslims are its victim but follower of every religion in Kashmir! Why?

To address the Kashmir issue there are more than a hundred pro or anti resistance camps with their annexation with India or Pakistan slogans but as per my election manifesto this is none of my business but I do have bunch of questions for both the camps in light of above mentioned facts. However to resolve the Kashmir issue my advice would be "Restoration of religious identity and sanctity". For that constitution of Kashmir needs to draw on religious democratic order. Since constitution of Kashmir is based on unlike Architecture faults are normal. Saeb Tabrizi has rightly said:

Unlike Architecture results unlike

خشت اول چون نھد معمار کج

تا ثریا می رود  دیوار کج

Thanking you
